Today on the Capture Crew Podcast we have the delight of speaking to Yaya Adamo.

Born in Puerto Rico and residing in Texas, Yaya’s energy is contagious and you’ll just love listening to her share the interwoven details of her life with her photography.

Yaya came into photography after the passing of her grandfather. She was able to capture a photo of him that she keeps on her phone, and in those days she came to realize she was the one often taking the photos in her family.

Now, she uses that passion to drive her to provide others with memories they can keep of their loved ones. Her style can be described as bold and artistic.

Yaya’s goal is to tell a story while photographing a client, with an emphasis on capturing authentic emotions. She feels the weight, responsibility, and privilege to capture these moments.

While she didn’t always know vulnerability would become a part of her brand, she has learned just how much it connects us. The more we can be vulnerable with our clients, the more they can be vulnerable with us.

It is with this mission she carries forth the hard work from generations past on both sides of her family.

She knows if she could poll them all, they’d say “Be you. Be kind. Love people. No matter what.” and so it’s this torch she carries with everything she does.

Yaya shared that the biggest struggle with building her brand and business was marketing. It was hard to find a way to share who she was through channels that don’t let her natural vibrance shine.

Luckily, over time, she has found support through the community and now reaches out when she needs assistance. It’s through this open-hand approach that she has been able to brand and build a brand new website that better showcases her work and her personality.

Take Yaya’s sage advice with you as you begin to cast your own net in this world,

“Everything is scary. Don’t let the fear stop you. When the moment becomes uncomfortable, that’s the moment you should say ‘okay, I’m getting closer to my goal!,’ I need to push through this uncomfortable moment because something bigger and better is coming my way.”

Remember, discomfort is temporary and everything you want is on the other side. Reach out for help when you need it. Learn from others. Put your ego aside.

Asking for help is a sure way to accelerate faster toward your goals.

Hi Everyone! My name is Yajaira Adamo but you can call me YaYa!

I am a proud military brat/spouse who has been given the opportunity to experience cultures and meet amazing people in my life.

The heart of my business is rooted in the passing of my grandfather. For me, memories are a big deal. In my family, I’ve always been the one to take photos.

The last photo I took of my grandfather is in my phone. I think about how many people don’t have this opportunity to have their photos captured in some of the most treasured moments with some of the most important people.

Through this experience, I realized the value of a single moment and single photography. This is where I draw my inspiration and passion for capturing special moments for each couple.

I desire to empower other families to have these family heirlooms to treasure and memorialize for years to come. I want each couple to trust and feel that these special moments will be captured.
