Today on the Capture Crew Podcast we are chatting with Melisa Caprio who is a dolphin therapy photographer!
That’s right – we don’t only talk about weddings here because there’s so much you can do with your photography.
Melisa has a BFA in fine art photography and had her own gallery before seeing the job posting for a dolphin therapy trainer.
She immediately remembered her days of wanting to be a biologist specifically working with dolphins, she got an idea. She was going to reach out and see if this place would let her volunteer to take photos of the kids while they had their dolphin therapy sessions.
She decided to reach out in a non-traditional-2022 way.
She sent a handwritten letter asking if she could volunteer as a photographer for these interactions.
They said yes and she immediately began working to capture these special moments the kids were having.
Melisa was still shooting on manual so the elements were extra challenging. There was the water, the bright blinding sun and of course the interactions with the dolphins themselves.
She began testing different angles and spots to shoot from and continued to learn and grow.
After a short time, Melisa was offered a job to do this full time and she immediately said yes!
She reflects back now on her time and how she believes she manifested this opportunity.
Because of her story, she decided to write a book sharing other people’s stories where they also manifested dreams.
She says gratitude is the biggest key to manifesting and she’s happy to have made so many amazing connections through her journey.
