Choosing a honeymoon destination can be the most exciting and most stressful part of planning a wedding.
Do you stay local? Rent an AirBNB and go to nearby hiking trails?
Or do you go international and prop your feet up on the sandy island beaches?
Christora has noticed with a lot of her brides, that the newest honeymoon trend is going to Disneyworld.
For Tom in the northeast, he says that most of his couples head down to the islands (Aruba, Jamaica, Bahamas).
An important question to ask yourself is “what would we want to experience together for the first time?”. Are you two more of a laid back couple? Would you rather do a week in a cozy cabin the mountains?
Are you two more adventurous? You could do what Christora and her husband did for their honeymoon and drive cross country in a rental car, taking in all of the sights.
Our suggestion?
Sit down with your significant other and each write down 5 places that you would like to honeymoon. Once you’re done, compare your lists.
Is there a destination that you both wrote down? Go there.
Are your destinations similar but not quite the same? You both said a place with a beach but don’t quite know what beach?
It’s also important to remember that honeymoons don’t have to be expensive.
“It can be whatever you want it to be.”
Christora’s advice on choosing your honeymoon
A honeymoon doesn’t have to be some extravagant international getaway.
It matters more who you’re with, not where you’re going.
Find something that you both enjoy in a place neither of you have been (or that you’ve both been a million times).
A honeymoon is a celebration, time away from the real world to celebrate being married and being together.
When you think of it that way, what place comes to mind?
We’d love to hear your honeymoon recommendations or places that you’ve always wanted to go.
